Olearia Allomii

The New Zealand native Olearia allomii is endemic to Great Barrier Island.

It grows on Mt Hobson and in the Awana Catchment - often next to Great Barrier kanuka, another endemic shrub.

Olearia allomii is known as the Great Barrier tree daisy. It has thick, leathery, bronze-backed leaves and grows to about one metre tall. It has small, sweet-scented daisy-like flowers in spring.

ACT has continued to remove feral predators and monitor wildlife in
the Awana area on
Great Barrier Island.

These days you're only likely to spot the Brown Teal in parts of Auckland and Northland. And
Great Barrier Island is
the only place where
their numbers are
not declining!
